I grew up spending weekends at the flea market with my mom and my teenage years scouring thrift stores. In a sea of white pumps and acid wash jeans known as the 80s, I was more absorbed in finding thrifted pieces to mimic the runways of Giorgio Armani and Donna Karan. I vibe with the aged elements, pieces with a history and a story - I definitely exist for the “the thrill of the hunt.” Being able to revamp, pair items in new and unique ways gives you an exclusive style and it's always been my way of self expression.
It was my grandmother that taught me the value of talking care of your things and in her eyes it was a transgression to be wasteful. She taught me the domestic art of laundering, stain removal, and mending…repair and reuse, always. She honored what she had and took pride in taking care of it…I’m akin to that principle and strive for the same within my own life and the items that I sell.
My education and career in fashion has spanned 30 years in various capacities from retail, to design to sales and I enjoyed working with some of the biggest surf, swim and sportswear manufacturers across the US. However, the capitalistic, overconsumption and corporate world too longer matched my integrity knowing the havoc that fast fashion is causing our planet as well as to the humans who make them. Buying, wearing, and selling vintage/secondhand allows me to work and live more consciously, gratefully and with intention. Its where my personal values align with what’s good for the planet and all of us that inhabit it. To me it simply says, I care, and I look great doing it.
